LIBA HISTORY

International Basketball League (LIBA) is a Youth Development organization dedicated to help young men and women stay drug free and teach them the necessary skills to succeed in life. By promoting and showcasing their skills to potential recruiters, we aim to help them succeed in joining a professional or College Team.

On April 14, 2014 the founders of LIBA, (Lucio D. Cufre and Roberto Alago), started an organization that would encourage young men and women to stay drug-free and become an integral part of society by engaging in a positive activity, that would in turn help them fulfill their dreams of becoming world known athletes and give them the tools and skills needed to succeed in any endeavor.

April 27, 2014 – LIBA Initiated its first tournament with two Teams, (Jonesboro Hawks and Warriors).
During this tournament, another four Teams Joined, (Zone 3, Durango, Los Reyes and Clayco).

May 14, 2014 – LIBA received its Certificate of Incorporation by the State of Georgia.

May 19, 2014 – LIBA received its Employer Identification Number by the IRS.

August 21, 2014 LIBA received Tax Exemption status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

November 6, 2014 – LIBA received its Business License by Clayton County, GA.

December 2014 – Jonesboro Hawks became the first LIBA Champions by beating “Los Reyes” with a score of 62 to 47.

November 15, 2015 – LIBA Started its second Tournament with fourteen Teams,
ending June 12, 2016 with The Kings as Champions.

June 12th, 2016 – LIBA Finished its Third Tournament with sixteen Teams and two sub-Leagues “A” and “B”. 

“A” League’s Champions were the Lee ST G.O.A.T. and Santa Rosa were the “B” League Champions.

November 5th, 2017 – LIBA’s 4th Tournament concluded with Georgia becoming the Champions.

February 25th – Start the 2018 Tournament for “A”, “B”, Women and Juniors. 

April 28th 2019 – Tournament Started with Georgia Becoming the Champions.

April 26, 2020 – Tournament will begin.
